Join us at our satellite space, Mr. Pool, for the opening reception of Parallel Shift in collaboration with RULE Gallery. It brings together two Colorado artists with strong geometric and patterning practices. For Bruce Price, his work straddles the boundary within patterned work that some use to separate geometric abstraction from ornamentation. Skillfully shifting back and forth between the two; asking the viewer to take the work on its own merit and not some arbitrary line or definition. Susan Blake creates abstract paintings that both play with the world of pattern and investigate the act of seeing. Her work draws upon her study of art history and geology, work in digital design and love of domestic sources of decoration such as fabric and wallpaper. Both artists like to create pieces that challenge the viewer’s preconceptions, following similar lines as they shift between abstraction and ornamentation. learn more
